Don Hill

A three-time NCAA champion in the 4X100 freestyle relay and the1953 Champion in the 50 yd freestyle, Don Hill was a multi-sport athlete at the Olympic Club where he was selected MVP in the Club’s 1965 Basketball League.

His swimming career began early, however, for he was a state High School Champion in the 50 and 100 yd freestyle before attending the University of Michigan where his NCAA records were established. When he started Masters Swimming, he dominated his age group in the sprint freestyle event. He has won numerous Gold medals in National or International competitions, setting 13 World and many National records. He was the first man of 50 years or older to break 60 seconds for the 100 meter freestyle. This record held for 12 years.

Don served on the Board of Directors of the Olympic Club from 1976-78, he was given the President’s Award for Club Service in 1982 and in 1992 he was voted the Olympian of the Year.
